Introduction: Dublin City Council employed Sports Labs to deliver sports pitches throughout the city on a 3-year framework. Sports Labs are to provide a full range of professional services to DCC as required.
Procurement: The Council set up a multi-contractor artificial pitches framework for 3 years, to deliver many diverse project throughout the City.
Specific Items of Interest: The Council’s objective was to deliver several high-quality soccer pitches which could be used for other sports including Rugby and GAA training. Sports Labs were involved at an early stage in the project therefore the user profile, specification and cost were defined early in the design phase from initial designs. Sports Labs submitted a part 8 planning application before proceeding with producing a detailed specification and tendering to the framework. All the 3G pitches are certified to competition level of FIFA quality pro and World Rugby regulation 22. Each pitch is set up with a high quality pro surface, full spectator provision and goal storage. Sports Labs performed key stage inspections during the works and each element of the works – base, shock pad, artificial turf was tested to ensure compliance was achieved with the specification.
