Introduction: Lancaster University employed Sports Labs to deliver a 3G artificial pitch.

Procurement: The University tendered this project to the market and selected the most capable, economic contractor. For this project, McArdle Sport- Tec were the chosen contractor.

Specific Items of Interest: The university wanted to refurbish an existing natural pitch into a state of the art multi-use 3G facility. Sports Labs worked with the university from the initial designs and submitted a planning application before proceeding with producing a specification and tendering to the market. This is the university’s first 3G surface which is accredited to the competition level of FIFA 1 star and IRB 22. Kim Montgomery, Head of Sport said, "The delivery of this facility will have considerable impact on our sports teams, recreational players and the local community. It will enable rugby and football matches to be played in all weathers and training to take place regardless of grass pitch conditions. This is further testimony to the importance that Lancaster University places upon sport and the wellbeing of its population."
